Three days...

Three days until the vote on whaling. I read that Japan has not aquired enough countries to be able to win a vote for whaling, which is great news. However, I also read that they will have enough swing to change some policies, which unfortunately may mean that the International Whaling Commision may need to go back to regulating whaling instead of prohibiting it like they do now. With whaling back, the IWC has no doubt that many species of whales will become extinct, including the often hunted Minke and Fin Whales. Damn Japan.

What I don't get is they one minute whaling is banned (wrong), which only makes sense....and now they are wanting to reverse that? For what ever reasons? I don't get it! STUPID PEOPLE. GRRRR.
I could understand the reintroduction of whaling if those countries that previously did permit whaling had their entire economies knocked down due to the ban, and if people were starving because they ended whaling. Also, I think the reintroduction of whaling would have to be on the end of a long tail of overpopulation of whales. None of these conditions have been met. In fact, no real reason has been given for the reintroduction other than pure greedy profits. But isn't that what it's always about in the end?
